Plant People Hat

Knit it for its own sweet sake or knit it as a wearable swatch! This hat features the same lace and cabled stitch pattern that I used for the yoke on the Plant People Sweater. You can use this hat to get the hang of that stitch pattern while making a wearable swatch project. The pattern flows elegantly out of the unusual brim. You can keep it as one layer or double it if you like a little extra over your ears.
Yarn
1 skein Lavender Lune Yarn Company Yak DK Weight (70% Nonsuperwash Merino, 15% Yak, 15% Silk, 330 yards / 115 g), shown in Adelaide Hat (Rose Pink). Also shown with a single-layered brim in Anthology Yarns Old Growth DK, Inky Cap.

Gauge
24 stitches and 26 rounds = 4″ / 10 cm in Charted Pattern.
Suggested Needles
US Size 6 / 4 mm circular needle, 16″ / 40 cm, for the ribbing.
US Size 7 / 4.5 mm circular needle, 16″ / 40 cm, for the hat body.
Double pointed needles in the same sizes, or Magic Loop, for the crown decreases.

Adult S/M (L/XL). Approximately 18 (21)” / 45 (53) cm circumference and 10″ / 25.5 cm tall, unstretched. Size shown is Adult S/M.
